Privacy policy

What personal information this blog collects, and how it is handled.

Effective: September 30, 2026

leejh.dev is a blog run by one person. You can read everything without signing in. Account information such as your name and email address is collected only when you sign in to comment.

Operator and contact

Use the email address above for privacy questions and for requests to view, correct or delete your information, or to stop its processing.

What is collected, and when

When you sign in with GitHub or Google, the blog receives and stores the following from that service:

  • Your name or nickname, and your profile picture URL
  • Your email address
  • The service you signed in with, and your account ID on that service

When you comment, the blog stores the comment text, whether it is a private comment, and when it was written and last edited. To manage your sign-in session, it also records the sign-in time, your IP address and your browser information.

The sign-in screens are provided by GitHub and Google themselves, and their own privacy policies apply there.

Why it is used

  • To show your name and profile picture with your comments. The name, picture and text of a public comment are visible to everyone.
  • To make private comments readable only by their author and the blog owner. A reply to a private comment can also be read by the person who wrote the original comment.
  • To prevent spam and abuse, by limiting how often you can post and letting the blog owner hide comments.
  • To confirm that a deletion request comes from the account holder.

Your email address is never shown with comments and is not used for any other purpose, such as advertising or newsletters.

How long it is kept

  • Comments: until their author deletes them. A comment with no replies is removed from the database as soon as it is deleted. If it has replies, its text and the author’s name are erased, leaving only a note that the comment was deleted.
  • Accounts: until you ask for deletion. Deleting an account also deletes its comments and the replies to them.

How it is destroyed

When a retention period ends or deletion is requested, the information is deleted from the database without delay. Personal information is kept only in electronic form and is never printed.

Processors and overseas transfer

Personal information is never sold or given to anyone else. However, the blog runs on the services below, so information is passed to these companies abroad:

  • Supabase (Supabase Inc., USA): comment database and sign-in. It handles all the information listed above and stores it in its Seoul region. The information is sent over the internet when you sign in or comment, and is kept for the periods above.
  • Vercel (Vercel Inc., USA): hosting. When you open a page, your IP address, browser information and the requested URL are recorded in access logs, which are kept according to Vercel’s policy.
  • Umami Cloud: visit statistics, without cookies and without storing anything that identifies you.

Every article can be read without signing in. If you would rather not share your account information, you can skip signing in; you just will not be able to comment.

Browser storage

  • localStorage holds your sign-in session (to keep you signed in) and your theme preference. Signing out removes the session.
  • sessionStorage holds page state such as where the back button leads, and is cleared when you close the tab.
  • The lang cookie remembers the language you pick with the KO/EN switch or a link to the other language’s version, for one year, so the home page opens in that language. It is set only when you use one of those links.
  • No advertising or tracking cookies are used.
  • You can block or clear cookies and site data in your browser settings. You can still read everything; only your language and theme choices and your sign-in will not be remembered.

Your rights

You can ask at any time to view, correct or delete your personal information, or to stop its processing.

  • You can edit or delete your comments on the page yourself.
  • To delete your account or see what is stored, send an email that includes the service you signed in with and your name (or email address). Requests are handled within 10 days, and you will be notified of the outcome.
  • Your name and picture are taken from your profile on the sign-in service when you comment. If you change that profile, sign in again and your new comments will use the updated name and picture. To change the name and picture shown on comments you have already posted, send an email.

Children under 14

The blog does not collect personal information from children under 14. If you are under 14, please do not sign in to comment. If the blog learns that it holds such information, it deletes it at once.

Security

  • All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS.
  • Browsers cannot read or write comment data directly; it is handled only through database functions that check permissions. The text of a private comment is never sent to anyone who is not allowed to read it.
